A pile of rubble seen Wednesday outside Joseph Gale Elementary School marks the first stages of summertime construction funded by the Forest Grove School District’s $65.3 million construction bond. A pile of dirt and concrete at Joseph Gale Elementary School represents the first round of groundbreakings in the Forest Grove School District’s bond-funded construction projects.
Crews at Joseph Gale have begun moving dirt and laying gravel as they prepare to lay the foundation for a new school. The project will wrap up in time for the 2012-13 school year.
The $21 million project is the second largest in Forest Grove’s $65.3 million laundry list of construction and upgrades throughout the district.
Other sites pegged for bond projects, including Echo Shaw and Harvey Clarke elementaries, have also broken ground.
While some of the construction will finish up before school starts in the fall, many projects will continue well into the 2011-12 school year and beyond.
The school district has created a blog to update the community on construction progress throughout the summer.
